Olive Press Café & Shop

Free Sample Tasting
Each season, since opening in 2014, visitors from all over the world who visit the Eggares Olive Press have the opportunity take part in a free Greek olive oil sample tasting that is fun and yummy too!

After the free tour and brief presentation of the olive press, guests are invited to sample a variety of specialty olive oils and not only. Visitors delight in our homemade olive-ingredient based treats such as Mama’s famous “Best in the Universe” olive oil cake (vegan), olive bread, olive oil cookies and more.

Also available to taste are homemade marmalades made with seasonal fruits: lemon, fig, orange, mandarin peach and apricot and gourmet olive paste served with bread and Greek dried rusks of barley known as “paximadia”. The best-seller olive marmalade is a must-try!

Shop
Although small in size, the Olive Press café & shop offers a wide variety of olive-based items, seasonal food and handcrafted products that are ideal for souvenirs and gifts.

Choose from a selection of gourmet infused extra virgin olive oils; olive varieties with herbs; pastes and marmalades; olive-themed T-shirts; bookmarks; kitchen towels; cookware made from olive wood; honey from Naxos and local bottled wine too!

A modern take on the ancient Greek tradition of using olive oil for the body is made possible by the several olive-oil based body care products available such as hand, face, foot and body cream and hair care products.

Eat
The outdoor Olive Press café is a charming spot to enjoy a quick snack or mezé. Sit back and relax on the patio and delight in a Greek “kolatsio” (a light snack) that might include a few olives; "paximadia" drizzled with olive oil; a little fava (pureed split chick pea dip) prepared with the traditional capers and onion and/or hummus.

Greek and local homemade beverages include: Naxos herbal teas; Greek coffee, frappé, espresso; homemade iced-tea, homemade lemonade and “vissinada”, a Greek seasonal fruit flavored- juice made with sour cherries; Naxos specialty aloe fruit juices; a selection of Greek beers; papa’s local wine, “Taxiarchis,” from our farm; or the Greek aperitif favorite, ouzo or local Naxos liqueur, citron (kitro).

We look forward to serving you!
